Alaska Coastal Safety offers the ACA River Safety and Rescue Program to complement our other water safety and medical training programs.

We offer a 1-3 day format for the ACA Level 3 River Safety and Rescue Skills Course.

This is a hands on course that focuses heavily on developing personal confidence in practical self and assisted rescues in moving water; and not on fancy rope systems . The course focuses on hydrology, river reading, scouting, and a number of strategies to keep you out of trouble in the first place.

In the event you need it we also refine our skills in: defensive swimming, retrieving other swimmers, dealing w pinned craft, foot/ boat entrapments, and quickly deploying simple rope systems.

This is the class for those paddling, fishing, and traveling on river systems on Packrafts, SUP, traditional raft, whitewater canoe/ kayaks, and those working on the water.

This course also prepares professional guides, first responders, researchers, and natural resource agency staff to safely work on or around moving water.
