Alaska Coastal Safety and Local Knowledge EdVentures now offers Packraft Skills and Safety Courses, as well as small group guided packraft trips. Trips and courses are based out of Girdwood and Portage Valley, with options for custom programs and guided trips state-wide.

Skills courses follow the new Packraft curriculum from The American Canoe Association for Level 1-3 Packrafting. More information on these ACA Packraft Courses can be found here:

Level 1 Introduction to Packrafting (Flatwater) 1 day course: Level 1 Intro to Packrafting or Level 1 Intro to Kayaking w Inflatables

Level 2 Essentials of River Packrafting (Class 1)1-2 day course: Level 2 Essentials of River Packrafting

Level 3 River Packrafting (Class 1-2) 2-3 day course: Level 3 River Packrafting Skills and Safety

We also offer custom packraft courses and trips statewide. Packrafts are a well traveled form of an inflatable kayak; and are often used in our other water safety courses as an adaptive craft in swimming pools, flatwater, and on trips requiring extensive travel to course locations.

Packraft courses can be combined with our ACA River Safety and Rescue Courses, as well as our Wilderness First Aid courses for professional development and guide training opportunities for outdoor program staff and field based professionals.
